O     Mathematics have their place, but you can't calculate the number of steps to heaven, or the velocity of the slide to hell.

O     Never confuse activity with productivity.  It's not what you put into the pipe that matters, but what comes out the other end.

O     Beware the four beasts that inevitably devour their keeper: Ego, Envy, Avarice and Ambition..

O     Given the right circumstances, from no more than dreams, determination, and the liberty to try, quite ordinary people consistently do extraordinary things.

O     Substance is enduring. Form is ephemeral.  Preserve substance.  Modify form.  Know the difference.

O       Happiness may be difficult but it is not complicated.  Dismiss desire, discard opinion, honor the past, trust the future, treasure the moment.

O    Like fishermen, we constantly cast the lure of expectation ahead of us hoping to hook a desired bit of the future.  Something unexpected always takes the bait.

O     Flattery may be despicable, but it will never fetch you a punch on the nose.

O     You can give no greater gift than to speak and write what is useful to your own heart.

O     Reading academic prose is like trying to slake your thirst in a mud flow.  There's moisture there, but getting at it is the rub.

O     Clear purpose and compelling principles of conduct in pursuit of it are far more effective than a long term plan and detailed objective.
